The setting of Terrible Lizards is New Mexico in 1992. A broken-down car leaves you stranded near Dalton’s Dinos. With the staff missing and no mobile phone to call for help, the roadside attraction becomes your only lead. Then a voice on a telephone asks you to find a missing child.
Terrible Lizards tells its story through the places you explore as well as the tapes, notes and recordings you discover. The familiar displays are only the beginning; the mystery continues below the attraction. We keep the later revelations off this page, so you can read the basics before playing.

Movement gives Terrible Lizards its distinctive rhythm. You see obstacles from the character’s perspective, link actions together, and look for a way forward while a creature closes in. The developer describes a system that leaves room to learn, then rewards more confident routes.

In Terrible Lizards, jumps, climbs, wall runs and slides work together. Think about the next landing as well as the obstacle in front of you. The route through a space matters more than finding something to fight with.

The Terrible Lizards movement system lets you correct your trajectory after jumping. That gives you a chance to pull back or move sideways before landing. It is a useful mechanic to get comfortable with as the platforming becomes more demanding.
